Our Mission & Vision

Virtual Reality in Memory Care

We focus on the individuality of each resident including learning what brings them energy and life; considering interests of their past and present. We look to the whole person, collaborate with their family and deliver care that incorporates the latest research in Alzheimer’s, other forms of dementia, and memory loss.

It is our mission to help residents discover a new joy of life by giving them purpose, freedom, and dignity in a safe, secure, and fun atmosphere.

Every year we donate $5,000 to the Alzheimer's Association and participate in their memory walks. We enjoy doing our part in helping to accelerate research, being a part of our community, and one day ending Alzheimer's and all other types of dementia.

Kacey Troyer

Ben Slabaugh

  • Inspirations was founded by two consultants with more than 50 years of combined experience in the Senior Living Industry. After achieving a master’s degree in health administration, Kacey worked for KPMG as a National Director in their Senior Living Services practice. He then started Troyer Advisors, a comprehensive senior living consulting practice. Kacey met Ben at a friendly gathering and together, they continued to consult in the senior living industry. Throughout this journey, they were able to help hundreds of providers across the US and Puerto Rico. They began to see so many improvements that could be made in the industry and only a small percentage of providers doing them. With this knowledge, they started casting a vision for a disruptive memory care community that challenged the old perceptions of senior care.

In 2015, they purchased their first community, a vacant, bank-owned, Assisted Living community on a farm in Westminster, MD. Kacey and Ben saw this as a great place to begin their vision for a holistic memory care community. It even came with goats and chickens! They immediately purchased a 4 seat UTV to offer a fun ride around the gardens and pastures! Along with a great team and amazing residents, the community began to come to life with laughter, dancing, great food, and animals.

After three years, they spread their vision to Linthicum and Lutherville, purchasing an additional 64 units. They continued the small-model approach, which can deliver superior Staff-to-Resident ratios and individualized care to residents. Being musicians, Ben and Kacey know the joy and movement that music can inspire in residents. They play for residents almost weekly and it’s often their favorite part of the week!

They are currently looking to spread their mission of purpose, joy, and laughter to more residents and are developing an awesome team of leaders and passionate caregivers to join and grow with them.
